Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and [Operator legal name], a sole trader in Ireland trading as Scoilsy ("we", "us"). They apply whenever you use Scoilsy. By creating an account you agree to them.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data.

Scoilsy is for teachers and school staff in Ireland who plan teaching. To create an account you must be 18 or over and give us an email address you control. Accounts are for one person only. Please don't share your sign-in details, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

You must not enter any information that identifies a pupil, such as names, initials, photos, dates of birth, PPS numbers, or notes about an individual child's needs, behaviour or progress. Describe your class as a group instead, for example "a small group working below class level in fractions".

Scoilsy isn't designed or secured as a place to keep pupil records, and your school's own data protection obligations still apply to anything you type.

Scoilsy uses artificial intelligence to suggest activities, learning experiences and other planning content. AI can be wrong, out of date, or unsuitable for your class. You're responsible for reviewing every suggestion before you use it and for making sure your teaching meets the curriculum and your school's policies.

You own the plans, notes and other content you create in Scoilsy. You give us permission to store, process and display that content only as needed to run Scoilsy for you, including sending it to our AI and translation providers when you use those features. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from the short retention periods set out in our Privacy Policy.

When using Scoilsy you must not:

• break the law or infringe anyone's rights, including copyright;
• upload anything offensive, defamatory or harmful;
• try to access other people's accounts or data, or parts of Scoilsy you're not meant to reach;
• interfere with Scoilsy's security or performance, for example by probing for vulnerabilities, overloading it or using automated tools to scrape it;
• use Scoilsy, or its AI features, to build a competing product;
• resell or give others access to Scoilsy through your account.

We work hard to keep Scoilsy available and your data safe, but we provide it "as is". We can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that it will meet every need. We may change, add or remove features. If we plan to close Scoilsy entirely, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email so you can save your work.

You can stop using Scoilsy and delete your account at any time from My Account.

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if you enter pupil information, or if we need to protect Scoilsy or other users. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem first.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited under Irish law.

Otherwise, we're not liable for any loss of data, lost time, or indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Scoilsy, or for decisions you make based on AI suggestions. Our total liability to you for anything arising from these terms or Scoilsy is limited to [cap, e.g. €100].

Please keep your own copies of anything important, for example by exporting plans to Word.

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. When we do, we'll change the version number and date at the top. The next time you sign in, Scoilsy will show you a summary of what changed and ask you to accept before you continue. If you don't want to accept the new terms, you can sign out and delete your account.

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
